Closer Financial Partners was formed in 2013 in Canterbury and became Closer Independent Financial Services Limited in 2021/2022.
Closer Financial Partners was formed in 2013 in Canterbury by long standing friends who had been working as financial consultants within the banking sector for many years. It became apparent that having worked together for many years within financial services, they all shared a common goal.
The goal was simple, to be able to devote our time into what’s important, our customers, and to be able to understand what our client’s goals and aspirations really are.
With over 40 years combined experience in financial services, we acknowledge that each and every client’s needs can differ and are personal to them. We will always provide our advice after fully understanding our client’s ambitions and will deliver it tailored to each and every individual.

Stewart Wedderburn
Director and IFA
Stewart has worked in financial services for over 20 years and worked across all of London and the South-East with the last 10 years being based in Canterbury. Stewart spent many years within banking specialising in providing advice to high net worth individuals, developing and maintaining long standing relationships.
Stewart is a founding partner of Closer and has numerous industry qualifications including the Certificate for Financial Advisors (CeFA) the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP) and holds a level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning (DipPFS).
Stewart is also a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) and holds a Statement of Professional Standing (SPS.) Stewart is also continuing his studies toward chartered status.
Mark Medwyn
Director and IFA
Having worked in the financial services sector since 2007, Mark has gained the trust of many clients during this time who value his professionalism and honest approach to giving financial advice.
Also a founding partner of Closer, Mark has obtained many financial qualifications throughout his career to ensure that his advice is of the highest quality, these include the Certificate for Financial Advisors (CeFA), Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (DipPFS), the Certificate In Mortgage Advice (Cert Cii MP) and the Certificate In Equity Release (Cert Cii ER). He is able to give advice in the areas of Savings, Investments, Protection, Mortgages, Equity Release, Retirement Planning and General Insurance.

Mark is a keen marathon runner and has a first degree black belt in Taekwondo. In his spare time, he enjoys cooking , yoga, gardening and carp fishing as ways to relax.
Elise Wedderburn
Mortgage and Protection Adviser
Elise is an independent mortgage and protection adviser here at Closer Independent having joined the firm in 2022. Elise is based in Herne Bay and holds the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP). She can provide advice on Mortgages, Protection and General Insurance.
Elise has excellent people skills and her honest straight-talking approach to Mortgage advice is greatly valued by her clients and colleagues alike. Having gone through the mortgage process personally many times in her personal life, she understands every case is unique and values finding the right lender for the right person. She understands that the mortgage process can seem daunting and takes great satisfaction in ensuring that she is on hand right through the process from application to completion day!
